Plein Air Week 5

This week I focused more on architecture, the first one I did was this gorgeous old rundown Victorian house a little north west of downtown Warrensburg.

This is a painting I attempted of the courthouse in downtown Warrensburg. I think one of the successes of this painting was how I laid down color in a broad manner in the beginning and not really being to concerned with the detail. But when I took it indoors to touch it up I think I tightened up the rendering and ruined it. One success I've hac this semester is limiting my self on time I'm trying to keep these between 1 to 2 hours.

  1. when i was a sophomore in high school i took a black and white picture of that red house to draw for a calendar drawing. i even had the film hand developed in the school's dark room and brought the picture in for my stupid teacher to approve. he said that i couldnt draw it because a student from another class was drawing the house. but the student that was drawing the house picked it out of a pile of pictures that the teacher brought in for the students that were too lame to take their own picture!!!!!!!! then i drew the corner cafe and i was a lot more happy. the end!!!!!! oh this is jackie
