Today was a good day in the studio without safety incidents, this is a Lhamaean from the Dark Eldar (evil space elf like creatures) faction from the Warhammer 40k universe. I did this in my free time, it was done in photoshop.
Below is my morning still life which was done in gouache and took about 2 hours. It is a portrait of a Space Marine Land Raider also from the 40k universe.
My gosh I love these Gouache paintings! What kind of gouache do you use, and on what kind of paper? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike! I actually have been painting on little 9x11 canvas sheets, the gouache is Holbein, its great stuff. You can get an introductory pack of it for around $30 or so off of Blick, I think that comes with 12 colors or so.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff, Jeff! I agree about the gouache paintings; they're awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your reply Jeff. Ironically I own the introductory set of Holbein..haha! Your still life paintings inspire me to do some of my own...but not until I finish my 100 hands (I'm halfway there).
ReplyDeleteThanks Mikhail, we need to get together and do some urban sketching.
ReplyDeleteMike I have the "Gouache Bible" I'll have to bring it out to Longview it has a lot of good tips.
