Xenofera/ Battletech

I meant to post these sooner, I got tied up on a rush job for the folks at Batttletech.  I’ve been working on a semi-self initiated project with a game maker I met at recent game convention. The name of the game is Xenofera, and it’s a 2-5 player competitive card game where the goal is to collect the most exotic space animals from all over the galaxy. Above is the cover art for the box.

This is the Jokers Jackal and its just one of the examples of one of the creatures you may encounter. I'm trying to make the art more fun and no so serious as I normally do. I’ll have many more examples of these in the future, as we get closer to the launch date so stay tuned for updates.
Below are some pieces I did for Battletech a while back

The Primarchs /Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

I thought I’d try this again since its almost been 3 years since my last post. What better way to kick this off than by showing the Primarchs I’ve been working on. For those of you not familiar with the Warhammer 40k (30k) universe the Primarchs are the sons of the Emperor of mankind and founders of original 18 Legiones Astartes.
Angron, Primarch of the World Eaters
Mortarion, of the Death Guard

Lorgar, of the Word Bearers

Fulgrim, Primarch of the Emperors Children

These guys are all traitors and I hope to, in the near future, paint some of the good guys.
I’ll be posting some more updates by the end of the week showing some more updates and I want to show off some new art for a personal card game I’m working on that should be going live on KIckstarter, sometime later this year.

San Francisco/ Trapped In Denver/ Art update

-->
It’s been far too long since I updated anything on the Internet, so I am going to force myself to get back into posting stuff online starting with my blog.
Here a Trygon has sprung a subterranean surprise attack upon a patrol of Space wolves in the mountains surrounding their mountain fortress. The warriors of Fenris desperately battle against a formidable of which they will most likely not win.

I did this piece in gouache on a 20x30 piece of Illustration board. I’ve been using gouache in a more loosely applied manner than I did in the past. I think this is partially due to experimenting with weekly paintings where I attempt keep the paint fluid and move it all around the canvas. I also worked with a very limited pallet I think it was a total of six to seven colors, most all ranging in the cool spectrum.

Below is my sketchbook from The San Francisco trip that I went on for School with the University of Hartford MFA in Illustration Limited Residency program. At one point I was stranded in the Denver airport for four days due to a blizzard. This is my entire sketchbook Unabridged and uncensored.

Da Red Ones Go Fasta

In honor of Games Day I decided do a piece involving some Ork Boyz in a Trukk as they race headlong across the desert into the fray of combat. This was a pencil sketch I brought into Photoshop and rendered it tryin to utilize more textur.
These are some sketches I did in an attempt to work on speed, above is a necron Triarch fightin a Dark Eldar wych, and a Daemonette of slaanesh riding her seeker steed and below is Trygon Ambushing a land raider.

These are some timed ones I did to really get my timing down, these are both 45 min. The first is an Ork Warphead, and the other is Chaos Space Marine From the fallen chapter of the Thousand Sons.

Below is some of the promotional stuff/ art stuff I am taking to Chicago

Hartford Trip 2012

Here are some images from my two-week MFA summer session at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.
This is a portrait of a Trygon Prime, done using the steps taught by Chris Payne

Here is Chaos Space Marine Lord done trying to emulate Chris Payne’s painting style, this was for a weeklong class taught by Gary Kelly and Chris Payne. Both of these were mixed traditional media.
This is a title screen I did for a Sexy Space Ladies Game done for Nancy Stahl and Zina Saunders class on developing an app using computer software. It was done in painter and Photoshop.

Below are some sketches I did in my sketchbook over the two weeks. This was done in ballpoint pen
